Planting Information

Preparation: Clear the plot area of debris, weeds, and vegetation. Create a clean, firm seedbed for optimal seed‑to‑soil contact.

Soil Testing & Fertilization: Conduct a soil test to determine pH and nutrient levels. For best results, use Fuel™ Brassicas + Clover Enhanced Fertilizer. Adjust soil pH to 6.0–6.5.

Seeding Rates:

  • Broadcast on Prepared Soil: 29 lbs/acre
  • No‑Till Broadcast: Increase rate by 20–25%
  • Drilling: 13 lbs/acre for precision placement

Planting Depth: Plant seeds no deeper than 1/2 inch. Lightly drag or roll into soil to ensure firm seed‑to‑soil contact.

Timing: Plant Bachelor Pad™ in spring or early summer when soil temperatures reach ≥ 65°F. Avoid hot, dry conditions during early germination and establishment.

Moisture: Ensure adequate soil moisture at planting. Irrigate, if possible, in dry conditions. Consistent moisture ensures optimal growth.

Maintenance: Scout plots for weeds or strong establishment competition and spray as needed.

Adjusted Planting Rate: Recommended rates assume 100% Pure Live Seed (PLS) and full germination. Actual PLS and germination rates vary by seed lot. To adjust, multiply the PLS and germ % (in decimal form), then divide the recommended rate by that number. Adjusting ensures proper coverage and maximizes plot success.

Rule: plant after last frost when soil ≥ 65°F, ideally with a rain window.
